I decided to do this league as a somewhat short season. Each team will play the other teams a total of four games, two home and two away. So that will make an 84-game schedule. I'm going to roll a D10 for the ballpark single and home run splits (1D20). State College's Medlar Field at Lubrano Park is singles 1-3 and home runs 1-10.

Walter Johnson outpitched Babe Ruth in the season opener to give the Scranton Invaders a 4-2 win at State College.
Harmon Killebrew hit a two-out, three-run homer off Ruth in the top of the third inning. Hack Wilson made it 4-0 in the eighth with a solo homer.
The Spikes avoided the shutout in the bottom of the eighth when Ruth doubled in Wee Willie Keeler and Pete Rose. Kirby Puckett hit into an inning-ending double play.
Game two of the four-game series will see Babe Adams on the mound for the Invaders and Phil Niekro for the Spikes.

The Spikes duplicated the score from opening day to even the series with a 4-2 win.
Phil Niekro pitched the complete game, allowing one earned run on eight hits with one walk and seven strikeouts.
Babe Adams was the loser, going eight innings and giving up four runs on eight hits.
Pete Rose doubled home Wee Willie Keeler, and Babe Ruth hit a two-run homer for a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first. A solo homer by Harmon Killebrew in the third made the score 3-2. Ray Dandridge tripled to score Kirby Puckett in the sixth for a 4-2 lead.
The Invaders didn't have a hit the last three innings.
The teams move to Scranton's PNC Field for the last two games of the series. Whitey Ford goes to the mound for the Invaders and Wilbur Cooper for the Spikes.

A pair of home runs took the Invaders to a 5-2 win in their home opener against the State College Spikes.
Whitey Ford pitched into the ninth inning for the win. Elroy Face faced one batter and got the last out for the save.
Babe Ruth homered in the first and doubled a run home in the fifth. George Foster and Julio Franco each hit two-run homers in the sixth to give Scranton the lead.
The series wraps up with Jack Quinn pitching for State College and William Bell for the Invaders.

A blow out game ended up being a close one late but the Spikes salavage a split of the series with a 13-10 win over Scranton.
Jack Quinn breezed into the eighth inning with a 12-2 lead and had only given up four hits to that point. Scranton batted around, homered twice, and two errors helped them score seven runs to make the score 12-9.

A spectacular pitching display on opening day as it took 14 innings before the Juniata Indians grabbed a 2-1 victory.
It was Randy Johnson for the home team, throwing nine innings and trailing 1-0. The Big Unit allowed six hits and six walks, but struck out 13. In the bottom of the ninth, a two-out double by Biz Mackey scored pinch-runner Jelly Gardner to tie the game 1-1.
Satchel Paige was just as great as Johnson, going nine and leading 1-0 and one out from victory. Paige only gave up four hits, two walks and struck out 10.
Tug McGraw worked five innings to earn the win for the Indians, allowing four hits, two walks and striking out two. Ted Lyons threw 4 2/3 innings in relief before taking the loss, allowing five hits and one walk.
Jose Canseco and Dwight Evans singled in the bottom of the 14th. With runners on the corners and the infield in, Craig Biggio hit a deep fly to left, allowing Canseco to tag and score the winning run.

Juniata pulled away to win game two of the series 8-5 on a grand slam home run by Jose Canseco.
Rube Waddell had the crazy line in the complete game of nine innnings, seven hits, five runs, nine walks and 12 strikeouts. Lefty Grove gave up eight runs in six innings on 10 hits.
George Brett hit a two-run homer to put the Indians ahead. In the top of the fifth, Waddell walked five men and the Cross Cutters took a 3-2 lead.
Canseco capped a five-run fifth with a grand slam off Grove.
Biz Mackey had three hits for Juniata, and Canseco finished with five RBI. Jeff Kent had three hits for Williamsport.

The Indians are on a roll and make it three in a row against the Cross Cutters with an 11-5 victory.
Juniata scored six runs on four hits and five walks against Chief Bender in the third inning. Dick Redding went the distance for the win, allowing five runs on eight hits.
Slim Jones went six innings of relief for Williamsport, giving up three runs, one earned, on five hits, three walks and he struck out seven.
Interesting stat: after three games Jimmie Foxx is 3 for 7 with three runs scored and eight walks. He walked his first four times up in game three.
Dennis Martinez will try to complete the series sweep for Juniata, while Phil Cockrell will attempt to stop the losing streak for Williamsport.

The series wrapped up with another extra-inning game as the Indians took the finale 9-7 in 11 innings to sweep the Cross Cutters.
Jud Wilson homered off Tug McGraw in the bottom of the ninth to send the game into extra innings. Jose Canseco singled two runs home off Ted Lyons in the top of the 11th to take the lead. Williamsport loaded the bases with two out before McGraw got a grounder to end the game.
Biz Mackey went 5 for 6 with two doubles, a triple and two RBI for Juniata. Al Kaline hit a grand slam for the Cross Cutters.

Dick Allen hit a two-run homer off Goose Goosage in the top of the 10th to take the lead. Tom Henke allowed a solo shot to Ken Boyer in the bottom of the frame before ending things for the save.
Addie Joss went nine for the win, giving up three runs on 14 hits with seven strikeouts. Roger Clemens took the no-decision after going nine and permitting seven hits.
Josh Gibson hit a first-inning two-run homer off the Rocket, and his sacrifice fly tied the game 3-3 in the eighth.
Billy Hamilton had three hits and two stolen bases for the Panthers. Roberto Clemente had three hits for the Bearcats.

The Bearcats even the series with three home runs and complete game by Eddie Plank in a 7-3 win.
Ken Boyer and Javy Lopez went deep back to back to take a 5-1 lead in the fourth. Plank allowed two earned runs and nine hits in nine innings. David Cone took the loss, being charged with seven runs and 11 hits in 6 1/3 innings.

The Panthers trailed 7-3 but stormed back to win 9-7 in their home opener.
Perkiomen chased Mickey Lolich with three runs in the bottom of the seventh. Goose Goosage couldn't hold the one-run lead and Dick Allen singled in the tying run. In the eighth, Tony Lazzeri hit a two-run homer off the Goose for a 9-7 lead. Tom Henke gave up two hits in the ninth but got his second save.
Roosevelt Davis threw three shutout innings in relief of Carl Mays for the win.

Al Simmons tripled the go-ahead run in off Roosevelt Davis in the top of the eighth, then scored on a base hit by Roberto Clemente to make it 5-3.
Don Newcombe pitched a complete game, allowing three runs on eight hits with eight strikeouts.
Turkey Stearnes and Clemente hit home runs for the Bearcats.

A great season-opening pitching matchup as Robin Roberts threw a three-hitter and Lock Haven topped Harrisburg 3-2.
Roberts walked five but held on for the one-run win. Twice the Senators had the bases loaded in the sixth but only got a sacrifice fly from Chick Hafey.
Smokey Joe Williams took the loss, striking out 10 in nine innings and allowing eight hits. Elmer Flick had a two-run triple in the fourth.

Harrisburg evens the series with a walk-off home run by Bernie Williams in the bottom of the 10th inning.
In the bottom of the ninth, the Senators loaded the bases with one out against Bullet Joe Rogan. Jeff Reardon came in and left the bases full. The Bald Eagles did not have a DH in the lineup with Rogan pitching, so Reardon was pinch-hit for in the 10th after Rogan led off with a triple. Bruce Sutter then retired the side keeping the game tied.
Willie Powell walked two in the bottom of the 10th and Bernie Williams went deep to win the game (a ballpark HR split of 1-2 and I rolled a 1).

A scoreless game into the eighth inning. Nap Lajoie singled in the first run and Vida Blue pitched an eight-hit shutout as the Bald Eagles win their home opener.
Blue walked three and struck out eight. Gaylord Perry gave up one earned run in eight innings, eight hits, one walk and struck out four.
Both teams had a runner thrown out at home plate to keep the game scoreless. George Kell doubled with one out in the bottom of the eighth. After an error by Frankie Frisch, Lajoie singled in Kell. A walk and sac fly by Jeff Bagwell made it 2-0.
