Joe DiMaggio's two-run homer gave the Pre-Americans a lead they wouldn't give up in a 6-4 win over Washington. The Pre-Americans lead the series two games to one.
Red Faber pitched five innings for the win. Dewey Creacy hit a two-run shot off Ted Lyons in the bottom of the eight, but Washington couldn't get any closer.

Game 4 went 10 innings before Lou Gehrig singled home the winning run in a 4-3 decision over the Washington Homestead Grays. The Pre-Americans lead the series three games to one.
Carl Mays pitched nine innings for the win, giving up eight hits. Ted Lyons retired the side in order for his fifth save.
Webster McDonald's first start of the tournament was a good one for Washington. He went 6 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on six hits. William Bell took the loss.
The Pre-Americans scored single runs in three different innings on doubles by Joe Sewell and Joe DiMaggio, and a home run by Bill Dickey. Mays took a shutout into the eighth, but Martin Dihigo's three-run blast tied the game.
In the 10th, Charlie Gehringer, Babe Ruth, and Gehrig all singled for a 4-3 lead.

The Homestead Grays stay alive with a 2-1 win over the Pre-Americans in game five. They still trail the series three games to two.
Big Bill Foster went the distance, allowing one run on five hits. Lefty Grove took another tough loss.
Chino Smith led the game off with a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Martin Dihigo. In the fourth, Rev Cannady doubled to score Mule Suttles for a 2-0 lead. Hank Greenberg hit a pinch-hit home run in the eighth to make the score 2-1.

One big inning carried the Pre-Americans to a 9-4 win and a series victory in six games.
A two-run triple by Chino Smith in the fifth gave the Grays a 2-1 lead. The Pre-Americans scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth. Joe Cronin hit a three-run homer.
Stan Coveleski improved his tournament record to 7-1.

A great come from behind, 5-3 win for the Washington Homestead Grays in game one.
Slim Jones pitched seven innings, allowing seven hits and two earned runs with nine strikeouts for the win. Roosevelt Davis notched his sixth save.
A two-run triple by Jim O'Rourke gave the Centurians a 2-0 lead in the fourth. The top of the next inning Alec Radcliff tied the game with a two-run homer.
The Centurians again took the lead at 3-2 after an error and a sacrifice fly. The Grays scored three runs in the eight off Christy Mathewson to take a 5-3 lead. Frog Redus came off the bench and tied the game with his first home run of the tournament. A bases loaded single by Mule Suttles and a sac fly from Willard Brown gave Washington the lead.
The Grays are still in search of their first series win in the tournament.

The Centurians even the series at one game apiece with a 3-1 win.
Cy Young allowed a leadoff triple to Chino Smith and single to Newt Allen to fall behind 1-0. He only gave up two more hits the rest of the game.
Honus Wagner, Hugh Duffy and Joe Kelley started the bottom of the first with three singles and three stolen bases. The Centurians took a 3-1 lead against Big Bill Foster and that was the final score.

Rube Waddell went seven innings for the win allowing two runs on six hits, with seven walks. Max Manning gave up five runs in five innings.
Nap Lajoie had a home run and four hits for the Centurians.

Josh Gibson's 12th home run of the tournament gave Washington a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Doubles in the fourth by Gibson and Willard Brown tied the game 3-3.
The Centurians scored an unearned run to take the lead in the fifth. Roosevelt Davis gave up two mroe runs in the eighth.
Hugh Duffy went 5 for 5 for the Centurians.
All six of Washington's hits were for extra bases.

A great game five as the Grays fell just short of a 3-2 final score and the Centurians win the series four games to one.
Kid Nichols made his first start of the tournament and pitched eight innings allowing two runs on five hits.
William Bell returned to mound as a starter for Washington and went seven innings and gave up three runs on six hits.
All the scoring took place in the third inning. Four consecutive two-out singles by Hugh Duffy, Nap Lajoie, Sam Crawford and Fred Clarke gave the Centurians a 3-0 lead. Washington's Chino Smith, Cool Papa Bell and Josh Gibson hit three straight doubles to make the score 3-2.
Nichols gave up one hit his last five innings. Vic Willis threw the ninth for the save.

Would you rather have someone who can hit like Rod Carew or someone who could hit 20-30 homers but hit under .300? It is a personal preference I guess.

Well, I don't know. In strat it seems to come down to HR power, especially in these super type leagues.
