Nellie Fox, Mickey Mantle and Robin Yount went deep for the Post Americans. Johnny Mize hit two home runs, Mel Ott and Chuck Klein also homered for the Pre-Nationals.
Jim Hunter went three innings in relief to get the win. Dizzy Dean blew the save in the seventh and took the loss.

An awesome back and forth battle in game four, and the Pre-Nationals pulled it with three runs in the top of the ninth to win 9-8.
Rollie Fingers blew the save in the top of the eighth as the Pre-Nationals scored three runs to tie the game 6-6. But Dizzy Dean let the Post Americans score two runs in the bottom of the eighth.
Hoyt Wilhelm then gave up three runs in the top of the ninth. Frankie Frisch led off with a home run. With two out, Johnny Mize connected for a two-run homer to put the Pre-Nationals ahead 9-8.

Johnny Mize and Joe Medwick hit back to back home runs in the top of the third. Larry Doby had a pinch-hit two-run homer for the Post Americans. Haines stranded the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth with one out for the save.

Another great game that went down to the wire but the Post Americans win it 6-5 and force a final game seven.
An error by Rogers Hornsby opened the door for two runs in the sixth. Paul Waner homered off Hoyt Wilhelm in the eighth, but he retired the side in order in the ninth for the save.
The Post Americans used four pitchers, with Jim Palmer getting the win with two innings of relief. Carl Hubbell lost after allowing six runs, four earned, on 11 hits in six innings.
Nellie Fox and Ted Williams each had three hits.

A truly spectacular game seven as the Post Americans come from behind to pull out a 9-6 win and beat the Pre-Nationals four games to three.
The Post Americans left 17 men on base, including the bases loaded in each of the first three innings where they only scored one run.
Rube Marquard left the game after six innings with a 6-3 lead. In the top of the eight, Burleigh Grimes gave up four runs, three scored with two out. Al Kaline, Carlton Fisk and Robin Yount, the bottom of the order, strung hits together to give the Post Americans a 7-6 lead.
In the top of the ninth, the Americans added two more runs off Dizzy Dean. After an intentional walk to Mickey Mantle to load the bases, Brooks Robinson ripped a single past the drawn in infield to score two runs.
Hoyt Wilhelm wrapped things up for the save.
The Pre-Nationals scored four runs off Bob Feller and led 4-1. They made the score 6-3 with two runs off Catfish Hunter in the bottom of the sixth.
Nellie Fox and George Kell had three hits apiece for the Post Americans.

Two undefeated pitchers hooked up in this one and Steve Carlton bested Rube Waddell in game one.
"Lefty" gave up one run on seven hits and struck out 10. Waddell allowed two runs in seven innings on five hits and fanned eight.
Frank Robinson hit a two-run homer in the fourth, and Mickey Cochrane added a solo shot off Kid Nichols in the ninth. The Centurians lone run came on a passed ball.
Harry Heilmann had three hits to raise his tournament-leading average to .485.

The Centurians dominated another game and take a 2-1 lead in the series with an 11-3 win over the Left Outers.
Christy Mathewson finally got run support and won his first game of the tournament, allowing only five hits in the complete game.
Hugh Duffy and Roger Bresnahan each had four hits. The Centurians scored eight runs off Herb Pennock and Bob Lemon in their combined four innings in relief of Ferguson Jenkins.

A completely unexpected performance from Don Sutton as he throws a six-hit shutout in a 4-0 win over the Centurians. The series is now tied at two games apiece.
Sutton picked up his second win of the tournament and lowered his ERA from 8.15 to 6.50.
Willie McCovey had a triple and three RBI for the Left Outers. Napolean Lajoie had three of the six hits for the Centurians.

An extra-inning battle and Duke Snider's line drive single to right scored Willie McCovey to give the Left Outers a 4-3 win in 10 innings. They now lead the series three games to two.
Steve Carlton and Rube Waddell hooked up in another great pitcher's dual. Waddell left after six innings down 3-1. Robin Roberts gave up the 3-2 lead in the top of the ninth, but then received the win.

Addie Joss easily controlled the Left Outers, beating them for the second time in the series, and the Centurians force a decisive game seven at The Polo Grounds.
Joss shutout the Left Outers on four hits in game two. This time he allowed one run on seven hits. Don Drysdale only made it four innings, giving up five runs on seven hits.
Jake Beckley went 3 for 4 with a triple, home run and four RBI.

It took 10 innings to determine who would win this series, and a walk-off grand slam home run by Honus Wagner gave that win to the Centurians 5-1.
Robin Roberts got the surprise start in place of Ferguson Jenkins for the Left Outers, and pitched eight innings allowing one run on seven hits. Christy Mathewson permitted one run on six hits in seven innings for the Centurians.
Bottom of the 10th against Jenkins, Roger Bresnahan and Wee Willie Keeler singled, then Elmer Flick got a base hit past Billy Herman to load the bases with no out. Lou Boudreau at shortstop got the force at home plate. Wagner then belted a grand slam to win the game for the Centurians.
Kid Nichols pitched three scoreless innings for the win. Jenkins got the call in relief and took the loss.
Game Notes: Flick's single was a roll of 1 on the X chart for Billy Herman at second base who is a 2. The HR by Wagner was on Jenkins card and a split of 1-11 HR, 12-20 double, so the game was over either way.

The Pittsburgh Crawfords are playing with renewed confidance and intensity, but came up just short in a 6-5 loss to the Post Nationals in Game 1 at Wrigley Field.
Pittsburgh is coming off its first series win of the tournament, and were right in the game with the Post Nationals. An error by Dobie Moore ended up allowing another run to score in the bottom of the eighth.
Phil Niekro blew the save for Juan Marichal in the top of the eighth. Pinch-hitter Spot Poles singled home Tank Carr to make the score 5-5. Eddie Mathews and Ernie Banks each singled a run home off Bill Drake in the bottom of the eighth.
Mathews finished with a home run and three RBI. Pittsburgh starter Dick Redding allowed three home runs in five innings. Moore hit three doubles for the Crawfords.

Another close game until the Post Nationals pull away in the eighth inning for a 6-1 win.
Pittsburgh didn't waste time in pulling Andy Cooper after three innings, two runs and six hits. The Crawfords just couldn't break through against Sandy Koufax until a solo home run in the eighth by Chaney White. Koufax struck out 11 and allowed six hits in eight innings.
Willie Mays homered for the second day in a row in his first at-bat of the game. White had three hits and Tank Carr two of the six total for the Crawfords.
