The Centurians dominated the Crawfords and put them away in five games.
Game one saw Bullet Joe Rogan rocked for eight runs in the second inning. Waddell gave up a solo home run to John Beckwith in that one, the only scoring for the Crawfords and another complete game for Waddell. Honus Wagner and Nap Lajoie each had three hits. Roger Bresnahan hit a three-run homer.
Game two was tied 2-2 after six innings. The Centurians went ahead 4-2, then scored four more runs in the eighth. Oscar Heavy Johnson drove in both runs for the Crawfords. Sam Crawford hit two triples and Jake Beckley had three hits and two doubles for the Centurians.
Back at home, Pittsburgh pulled out a win in game three. Dobie Moore drove in two runs with an eighth-inning single. The Crawfords' Cooper, Hensley and Drake contained the Centurians to three runs on seven hits.
Game four went 12 innings. Hugh Duffy tripled to tie the game 4-4 after eight. Jimmy Collins doubled in the winning run in the ninth. Pittsburgh scored all four runs in the seventh. Jake Beckley and Elmer Flick homered for the Centurians.
Rube Waddell wrapped up the series with a three-hit shutout, walking two and striking out eight.

Pete Alexander twirled a gem against the Homestead Grays in game one, taking a no-hitter into the seventh inning. He was perfect with two out in the sixth until an error by Frankie Frisch. In the seventh he hit Chino Smith with a pitch, and with two out Frog Redus lined a base hit to left. Again with two out in the ninth, Josh Gibson launched a solo home run to break up the shutout.
Chuck Klein continues to destroy anybody pitching to him. He smashed his 11th home run of the tournament, going three for four with three RBI.

Game 2
Pre-Nationals 4, Washington 3

A well-pitched game between Carl Hubbell and Big Bill Foster. Hubbell came out on top with help from Dizzy Dean's fourth save of the tournament.
A 1-1 tie was broken in the bottom of the fifth when Foster walked Johnny Mize with the bases loaded. Rogers Hornsby greeted Roosevelt Davis with a two-run homer in the seventh for a 4-1 lead.
Dean pitched three innings, giving up two runs but holding on for the save. Frog Redus singled home Mule Suttles in the eighth. Alec Radcliff led off the ninth with a home run. Dean retired the next three hitters to end the game.
The Pre-Nationals lead the series two games to none.

The Homestead Grays stayed alive with a 7-4 win and now trail two games to one in the best of seven series.
William Bell gave Washington seven innings, allowing four runs on nine hits to get the win. The Grays took the lead in the bottom of the seventh with four runs off reliever Dizzy Dean.
In the top of the seventh, Jim Bottomley hit a pinch-hit two-run homer that put the Pre-Nationals in front 4-3.
Cool Papa Bell hit a two-run triple to go in front. After a sac fly, Josh Gibson hit his second home run of the game. Sam Streeter went two innings for his second save.

The Homestead Grays hang on for another win and even the series at two games apiece.
Max Manning took a shutout into the ninth inning with a 4-0 lead. Paul Waner hit a three-run homer to pull within one with one out. Roosevelt Davis retired the last two hitters for his third save.
Dazzy Vance allowed four runs, three earned, in seven innings for the loss. Washington scored three runs in the second on a single by Martin Dihigo and a two-run double from Cool Papa Bell. An error by Chuck Klein in the fifth put Chino Smith in scoring position and Mule Suttles brought him home with a double.

The Pre-Nationals take the pivotal game five 5-4 and now lead the series three games to two.
Pete Alexander went eight innings for the win, allowing four runs on eight hits. Jesse Haines walked two in the ninth but finished the game for the save. Sam Streeter made his first start for the Grays, replacing Bill Byrd. He gave up three home runs in five innings.
Rogers Hornsby hit a two-run shot in the top of the first. Ernie Lombardi got the start behind the plate in smacked two home runs for the Pre-Nationals. Kiki Cuyler added another solo roundtripper. Martin Dihigo hit a two-run shot for the Grays.
The Pre-Nationals made several changes to the starting lineup against the left-hander. Cuyler, Joe Medwick, George Kelly and Lombardi combined to go 7 for 17 with four runs, three RBI and three home runs.

A slugfest in game six but the Pre-Nationals win 9-6, and win the series four games to two.
Carl Hubbell got smacked around again for six runs, three homers, in 7 2/3 innings, but got the win. Dizzy Dean recorded his fifth save. Big Bill Foster also got knocked around for seven rns in three innings.
Chino Smith hit a two-run homer for the Grays in the top of the first. The Pre-Nationals scored seven runs in the first three innings. Kiki Cuyler and Rogers Hornsby homered in the first. Bill Terry went three for five with three RBI. Pie Traynor had three hits and two RBI. Hornsby scored four runs. Mule Suttles hit a two-run shot and Willard Brown a solo roundtripper for the Grays.
Hubbell is 3-0 with an 8.22 ERA in five starts. Bill Foster is 1-3 with a 6.55 ERA in six starts.

A close game won in the last two innings by the Pre-Americans to go up 1-0 in the series.
Sandy Koufax held a 1-0 lead on a sacrifice fly by Willie Mays into the seventh inning. Joe Cronin doubled, and with two out, Hank Greenberg's pinch-hit double tied the game. Al Simmons led off the eight with a home run to take a 2-1 lead.
Lefty Grove got a no-decision after seven innings of three-hit work. Ted Lyons threw two innings for the win.

A late surge of power took the Post Nationals to a 9-2 win to even the series at one game apiece.
A three-run homer by Ernie Banks gave the Post Nationals a 4-1 lead. Lefty Gomez gave up five runs in one-plus innings. Stan Musial and Eddie Mathews hit back to back home runs. Hank Aaron added a two-run shot in the eighth. Babe Ruth hit a solo home run off Tom Seaver, who struck out 10 in the complete game win. Stan Coveleski gave up four runs in seven innings for the loss.

A huge slugfest at Wrigley Field as the two teams combined to hit nine HR. Hank Aaron homered twice with five RBI in a 14-5 win for the Post Nationals and they take a two games to one lead in the series.
Juan Marichal pitched a complete game for the win, giving up four solo home runs. Carl Mays lasted into the fourth inning, allowing eight runs and three homers.
The Post Nationals scored five runs in the bottom of the second for an 8-1 lead. Joe Morgan, Aaron and Eddie Mathews all hit home runs.

The Post Nationals took the lead in the sixth and went on to win 8-4 and take a three games to one lead in the series.
Gaylord Perry went six innings for the win, allowing three run on eight hits. Phil Niekro came on in the ninth for Jim Bunning and finished up for the save.
Red Ruffing took the loss with three innings of relief, allowing five runs. Red Faber got a no-decision.
The score was tied 3-3 after five. Ruffing walked two, then a double by Ernie Banks scored one run. Richie Asburn's pinch-hit two-run single made the score 6-3. Eddie Mathews hit his second home run of the game in the seventh for an 8-3 lead.

An awesome game that the Post Americans won with a walk-off homer by Roberto Clemente to win the series in five games.
The Pre-Americans scored three runs in the first off Sandy Koufax, after only getting two off him in eight innings back in game one. Joe DiMaggio tripled two runs in and scored on a double by Joe Cronin.
Ernie Banks homered off Lefty Grove to get the Post Nationals on the board. A four-run sixth put the Post Nationals in front 5-3. Hank Aaron hit a two-run homer, then a two-out pinch-hit two-run single by Roberto Clemente made it 5-3.
Charlie Gehringer homered off Bob Gibson in the seventh. In the top of the ninth with two out, a two-base error by Orlando Cepeda at first base gave the Pre-Americans life. Al Simmons made them pay with a single to tie the game. Babe Ruth doubled, but Gibson got Hank Greenberg to end the inning.
Clemente had stayed in the game in right field, replacing Pete Rose. He led off the bottom of the ninth with a home run off Waite Hoyt to win the game.

Two of the top teams in the early going of the tournament, and the Post Nationals dominated. They hit 15 home runs in the five games, and 10 in the three games at Wrigley Field.
