The tournament leading Post Nationals trailed all the way until the last of the eighth when an RBI-double by Eddie Mathews lifted them to a 4-3 win in game one.
Juan Marichal and Jim Palmer each left the game after seven innings with the game tied 3-3. Carl Yastrzemski hit a three-run homer in the fourth and that was all the scoring for the Post Americans.

A great game two went 12 innings before the Post Nationals grabbed an 8-7 win to take a 2-0 lead in the series.
The Post Nationals scored six runs in four innings against Whitey Ford, ending his day early. Catfish Hunter and Hoyt Wilhelm threw four scoreless innings of relief.
Sandy Koufax went eight innings, allowing five runs and striking out 10. Warren Spahn blew the save in the ninth when George Brett's pinch-hit double scored two runs and put the Post Americans up 7-6.
Rollie Fingers then blew the save when Eddie Mathews homered to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth. In the 12th, Hal Newhouser gave up a triple to Ernie Banks and a sac fly by Orlando Cepeda won the game.
Mickey Mantle hit a grand slam for the Post Americans.

Very few hits allowed in game three but the Post Americans made better use of theirs to win 5-2 and now trail the series two games to one.
Ernie Banks and Willie Mays hit solo home runs, but a two-run shot in the seventh by Ted Williams gave the Post Americans a 3-2 lead. George Brett hit a two-run homer for a 5-2 advantage in the eighth.
Nolan Ryan allowed five hits and struck out 10 in seven innings. Tom Seaver gave up four hits in six innings in the loss.

Catfish Hunter had a five-hitter going at the start of the seventh inning. The Post Nationals scored eight runs that inning to grab a 9-5 win and take a 3-1 lead in the series.
Gaylord Perry gave up three home runs in six innings, and went from being down 4-0 to picking up the win. Stan Musial had four hits and Eddie Mathews had three. Ted Williams hit two home runs in the loss.

Jim Palmer turned in his first complete game of the tournament as the Post Americans stay alive with a 10-4 win, trailing the series three games to two.
Palmer only allowed four hits on the day. Mickey Mantle hit his second grand slam of the series, and had six RBI. Luis Aparicio got the start at shortstop for defense, had an error, but went 3 for 4 with a triple and an RBI for the Americans.
Stan Musial homered and drove in three runs for the Nationals. Juan Marichal lasted five innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits.

A dramatic three-run homer by Ernie Banks in the bottom of the eighth inning gave the Post Nationals a 6-3 win and a series win four games to two.
Joe Morgan and Willie Mays hit back to back home runs in the first inning off Whitey Ford. The Chairman of the Board gave up one hit the next six innings.
The Post Americans took a 3-2 lead against Sandy Koufax in the fourth. Phil Niekro went two innings, then Bob Gibson came in. Hoyt Wilhelm gave up the three-run shot to Banks in the eighth. Orlando Cepeda followed with another home run.

Dazzy Vance's first complete game and two RBI apiece from Frankie Frisch and Johnny Mize took the Pre-Nationals to an 8-4 win over the Kansas City Monarchs in game one.
Ray Brown gave up eight runs on 13 hits in five innings for the Monarchs. Kiki Cuyler and Paul Waner each had three hits for the Pre-Nationals.

Satchel Paige struck out 10 in going the distance for the win. Spoony Palm hit two home runs and drove in three for the Monarchs. Rogers Hornsby had three hits for the Pre-Nationals.

The Monarchs crushed Carl Hubbell, scoring seven runs in the first inning, and went to a 12-1 win to take a two games to one lead in the series.
Buck Leonard hit a grand slam in the first. Kansas City first nine men all reached base and seven runs scored before there were any outs. Leonard, Willie Wells and Wild Bill Wright all had four hits.
Leon Day threw his fourth complete game in six starts since moving from the bullpen. The Pre-Nationals appeared to throw in the towel early as they went to the bench as the game progressed, while the Monarchs did not take out any of their starters.

Dazzy Vance twirled a three-hit shutout in a 2-0 win for the Pre-Nationals over Kansas City. The Nationals take a three games to two lead in the series.
Vance followed his complete game in game one with an even better outing. He walked one and struck out eight.
Frankie Frisch tripled and scored on Rogers Hornsby's single in the top of the first. Frisch tripled home Vance in the fourth.
Ray Brown allowed two runs on seven hits in six innings for the loss.

A pinch-hit, three-run homer in the eighth inning by Alejandro Oms gave the Monarchs a 6-3 win and forced a final game seven against the Pre-Nationals.
Kansas City fell behind after a two-run homer by Rogers Hornsby. They pinch-hit for Satchel Paige in the fifth inning, and picked up an unearned run to make the score 2-1.
Pete Alexander left with a 3-2 lead when Bill Terry singled in Pie Traynor. Jesse Haines gave up the lead in the eight. Ray Dandridge drove in the tying run, then Oms cranked his first home run of the tournament for a 6-3 lead.
Hilton Smith worked three innings for the win and Chet Brewer got the save.

The Kansas City Monarchs have shown incredible heart in this tournament and this series once again. Down 3-2 they come back to win the series in seven with an 11-4 victory in the finale.
The Monarchs led 3-0 when they blew up Dizzy Dean for five runs in the sixth. Rap Dixon and Buck Leonard each hit RBI triples. Leon Day and Bill Wright plated runs with singles past the drawn up infield.
Johnny Mize made the score 8-3 with a three-run homer off Leon Day. Dean gave up solo homers to Spoony Palm and Ray Dandridge in the eighth, and Turkey Stearnes hit one out off Burleigh Grimes in the eighth.

A three-run homer in the first by Oscar Johnson got the Crawfords off to a good start. A four-run eighth allowed them to pull away for the win.
Dick Redding allowed six runs, three homers, in seven innings for the win. Don Sutton fell to 2-5 after being hit for six runs in six innings.
