I was mentioning to Crimson the other day that I was going to post the directions for the game of soccer that I use for my soccer league. I found these at:

Directions:
Choose a home and away team and write the team names on a sheet of paper.
Add or subtract a team’s defensive rating (DEF) from their opponent’s offensive rating (OFF). Write this number by the offensive team’s name. Do the same for the team’s opponent. This number represents a team’s offensive chances in a game.
Example using Arsenal against ManU:
Arsenal = 20(their offense) – 3(ManU’s defense) = 17 offensive chances
ManU = 18(their offense) – 2(Arsenal’s defense) = 16 offensive chances
Roll a 6-sided die for each offensive chance a team has. Every 4, 5, or 6 rolled results in a shot of goal. Write this number next to the teams offensive chances. Do the same for their opponent.
For each shot on goal a team has, roll a 6 sided-die. Every 6 results in a goal scored.
Determine the goal scorer for each goal scored by rolling the two ten sided dice. Read one color first and then the next to give a number from 00-99. Look up this number on the team’s roster and it will tell you who scored the goals.
In case of a tie that must be broken, divide each team’s offensive chances by three and round accordingly. (MLS teams divide by 9) Determine shot on goals for the extra time period using this number. (the procedure is the same as regular game) Checking goals scored is different however. Starting with the home team alternate checks of scoring of goals. If a team scores, the game is over and no other checks for goals are done. If no team scores in this extra time period calculate the difference in offensive chances from the start of the game and resolve the game according to the penalty kick chart below rolling a 6-sided die.
PENALTY KICK RESULTS
Offensive Chances Difference Result
0 1-3 = away team 4-6 = home team
+1 or +2 1-2 = low team 3-6 = high team
+3 or +4 1 = low team 2-6 = high team
+5 or above high team wins automatically

Example Boxscore:
Team Chances SOG Goals ETC ETS ETG Final Scorers
Arsenal 17 10 1 6 2 0 1 Ljungberg
ManU 16 8 1 5 2 0 1 Scholes
***Note: If a game ends in a tie then none of the E columns are necessary.
Crossover games between different country’s premier league teams -- compare the league averages as calculated and subtract. For every 5 goals difference add one offensive chance to the team from the higher average league.
Crossover games between same country, different division -- add 6 offensive chances to the higher league team for ever level difference. Example: A premier league team will get 12 more offensive chances against a division 2 squad.
Rating Teams:
Find the number of goals scored for all teams in the league that year and add them together. Divide by how many teams. Round accordingly up or down. This is the average number of goals each team scored and gave up.
To determine a team’s offensive rating, subtract the league average from the goals the team scored and divide this answer by five. Round accordingly. Add this number to 13. This is the team’s offensive rating.
To determine a team’s defensive rating subtract the goals the team allowed from the league average and divide this answer by five. Round accordingly. This the team’s defensive rating.
To setup team scoring charts, list all players who scored goals that season from greatest to least number. Make sure to use only league goals and not goals from cups. Divide each players number of goals by his team’s total number of goals for the season and multiply by 100. Round accordingly. This is the number of numbers he will receive on his team’s chart. Begin with 00 and assign appropriate numbers. Do this for all players. If you have leftover numbers, assign one number for each player who scored a goal but no goals in league play. Any left over numbers after this to get to 99 should be assigned as (other player/own goal)
