Rue McClanahan Dead at 76!

The legendary actress - Golden Girls and Maude - died at 1 AM this morning at New York Presbyterian Hospital .

We're told she suffered a massive stroke.

At the time of her death, McClanahan was surrounded by family and loved ones. "She went in peace," says her manager.

While this news incredibly sad, Rue had been very sick for a while and at least she is no longer in pain.

Betty White is the only one left from the cast.Erin Murphy (aka Tabitha from Bewitched) wrote on her MySpace,"Rue,Thankyou for being a friend."I didn't get it at first.Rue is in a happier place now.
