Okay I watched the 2010 version of Alice in Wonderland. It amazez me that people who apparently know nothing about Alice's Adventures Underground or Through the Looking Glass can think they can write a viable sequel to the originals.
This tales begins 10 years later. If Alice was 6 in the original storys, this would make her 16.They portrait Alice Kingsley (Her real name was Alice Plesance Liddell) as being a recovered Lunatic. This brought to mind the 80s sequel to The Wizard of Oz."Return to Oz" I believe it was called. They portrait Dorothy as being Mad.
So Alice is setup to marry this dorky guy by her Mother.Several Alice-esque things happen just prior to the wedding.Alice's Mother remarks,"These roses are white,I distinctly asked for red".Alice replies,"Why don't you just have someone paint them red then."If you've never read the book you'd never get that reference. When asked whether she'd take the groom as her husband,Alice takes off chasing the white rabbit.Let's just say her falling down the hole wasn't as pleasant or bizzare as it was described in Lewis Caroll's books.
Somehow The Mad Hatter isn't so Mad as he used to be and this time he's the co-star!This was just plain strange. All these little adventures happen, you're introduced to several new characters as well as some revamped old characters. Cheshire Cat was pretty cool looking and he becomes a hero in this one.
Anyway it ends up that Alice(dressed like Joan of Ark) battles The Jabberwocky, while The Hatter fights the entire Red Army. When did Alice become prone to violence and killing?I won't give away the end to much. But get this,Alice doesn't get married, she acts rude to her family members and becomes the Groom's father's business partner! What ferschlugener idiot thought that up?It's 19th Century England...get with the plot guys! That would never be thought of then much less happen!
If you knew nothing about Lewis Caroll, the movie would be great! For me,I read Alice's Adventures Underground and Through The Looking Glass, this to me was a poorly written commercialization!Cinematography was good, costume were outrageously good!I think this is something you'd want to watch if you are after an amusing afternoon at the movies. It had about as much to do with Alice's Adventures Underground as Tim Burton's Charlie & The Chocolate Factory had to do with the original movie Willy Wonka from the 70s.Fun but not true to the real story.
Overall rating C

Why was Weird Al in the movie?Did he get murdered or anything cool like that? Weird Al heckles the Malcolm McDowell character, in the film. No, Al doesn't get killed, but he adds a good bit of comic relief!
You should check out the Wiki pages for Rob Zombie's Halloweens, the second one has an alternative ending in the director's cut that isn't covered on the Wiki page!
And I never read the Alice in Wonderland stories, sorry. I think we covered Lewis Carroll very briefly in 8th grade, but that was a LOOOOONG time ago, LOL!
Besides, what do you expect from a Tim Burton film? Reality? ;D

If that wasn't a Tim Burton movie it sure wreaked of one.I love Lewis Caroll. He was an opium freak. He'd get stoned and write these outrageous stories for Alice Pleasance Liddell the real Alice.Whoever was behind the movie lost the whole concept. But even still kids still love the movie. For me it was like thinking Greek Mythology was like Xena Warrior Princess.

I just saw 'The Book of Eli' on DVD...and man, it wasn't what I thought it would be. If you watch it make sure you are drinking something to keep you awake because the first quarter to half of the film will have you nodding off every now and then. It really moves slow. But from the midway point to the end it does pick up and there is some nice violent action, if you are into that kind of thing.
It stars Denzil Washington and Mila Kunis. I've seen Mila in a few things but she is at her best here. WTIC, you may want to check it out just for her.
Anyway, Denzil is in possession of a book that a bad guy wants. This is post America-is-destroyed-by-war. The look is dark and they purposefully refrained from being too colorful. Lot's of shade and darkness in the depressive looking scenery. You don't know what the book is until the end, although you have a pretty good idea by midway through.
I don't want to give away much more than that. But if you are a rabid Denzil or Kunis fan then have at it. But I think for the average movie watcher they will come away let down.
Acting is great. Writing is simple. Scenery is...well...depressing as it is supposed to be.
It earns ** 1/2 out of 4 stars from me.

And Xena killed off the Greek gods. So she is far better than they were. Kelly

I'll have to watch The Book of Eli online.A lot of movies lately are dark and depressing looking,Hollywood trend?
I forgot about that,Xena became a God Killer.I forget the actual term they used but she could de-mortalize the immortal! Not true to Greek Mythology but an interesting concept.

I've seen Mila in a few things but she is at her best here. WTIC, you may want to check it out just for her. Yep, you know it! I need her movie "Extract" also!
Well, finally watched Hellboy 2! Very good CGI, that's for sure! Not enough Selma Blair though. I've been a fan of hers since "Cruel Intentions", hehehhehee!
Hellboy 2 was fun, and you can tell Ron Perlman had fun in the role. The humor was good, and I would recommend it if you love CGI! A solid 4-stars out of 5 from me!

So I'm watching Beauty and The Briefcase.Hilary Duff's newest TV movie. I'm seeing a much more mature Hilary Duff. She no longer has that teen idol feel to her performance.I will predict that Hilary will become the Jennifer Aniston of 2010s!She's quite beautiful, she has that Aniston, Milano,Barrymore quality. You know the one that makes you want to fall in love with her!The best work from Hilary yet!
As for the movie...Hilary becomes a friend's assistant in what I think is a fashion magazine's front office. She's accused of doing things to further her career while hindering other's careers. This is a great vehicle.Nice Mature roll for Hilary!I'll watch the rest and report back later! This is funny Hilary's Cosmopolitan Cover is in the background of this one scene!HOLD IT!Scratch that it's not a magazine it's Investment Banking...
In other news...10 Things I Hate About You gets a "rocky" start to the 2nd half of their 1st season. Kat Stratford (Lindsey Shaw) is now dating Patrick Verona,so that tension is gone.Bianca is now dating Joey The Head Cheerleader's ex.BUT everyone still want her to be in love with Cameron! So that, scenario is on a shaky road.Mandela our favorite tough artist who was Kat's strongarm, has a jealous girlfriend that has it in for Kat!So now that storyline is all screwed up!The show is still good and I am interested in how they are gonna write their way outta this...
On the other hand I watched the 1st two episodes of Victorious starring my MySpace and Facebook friend Victoria Justice.Dan Scheinider does it again! This will be a the show that replaces iCarly when it goes out. Tori Vega (Victoria Justice) is a student at a "Fame-like" High School. The cast for the most part is unknowns. The exception is Daniella Monet who played Emma Roberts best friend on Unfabulous. The one guy was on an episode of iCarly he played keyboard in iCarly's band.
There's a ventriloquist. His dummy has to pee and he has this catch phrase,"You don't know what I got!" There's The Goth Girl that is Tori's nemesis.Tori's best friend reminds me a lot of Alexis Nicola's Nicole character on Zoey 101.She seem like a blingy Nicole update anyway. There's a nutty Drama Teacher.
The Bird Scene was hilarious!Check this show out, very funny!

So I guess you had a fun birthday watching those babes?
I'm watching Transformers 1 now, in pieces. Funnier than I thought it would be, great CGI of course! And don't get me started on Megan Fox!
I will give my full review once I've seen the whole thing. One more thing: Christina Applegate's dad on Samantha Who is the dad in this one, what a surprise to see him in Transformers!
I've got Transformers 2 on DVD to watch once I'm done with 1! (More Megan Fox is ALWAYS good, hehehehhee!)
I'm not watching much else other than 90210 now. Melrose ended last week and not sure if it will return next season. Still catching Law & Order SVU when I remember, LOL!

I watched Hilary Duff's Greta.(foreign film original title According to Greta.Duff is credited as Producer.)
This one has Hilary as an out of control 17 yo.Her mother is trying to fix marriage number 9,so she is sent to stay with her Grand Parents in New Jersey!Hilary is a bad girl in this movie and as much as you want to love her she's such a horses heine that you can't.She's rude to her grand parents and breaks all their rules.Grandma although it doesn't seem like it has faith in her grand daughter.Grandpa loves her too.But does what Grandma wants.
Hilary gets a job in a seafood resturant and starts falling for the cook. Her rudeness almost gets her fired.
If you are a Hilary Fan this one is worth seeing.

WTIC- That was War Inc. I haven't watched that one yet.
Greta is the one the Hilary sitting in a bathtub scene is from. Also those see thru pix of her in a pink top coming out of the water, are from the end of Greta.Pretty cerebral for a Hilary Duff movie.

"See-thru"? Hehehheehee! Yeah!
War Inc, yeah I had to watch that clip again on Youtube, LOL!
Finished watching Transformers 1! Of course, the CGI was outstanding, and Megan Fox was really hot (I think EVERYTHING she's in she looks hot, hehehhee)!
The movie is over 2 and 1/2 hours long though, they could have cut most of John Voight's stuff for sure. I did like it a lot overall, and would almost give it 4 and 1/2 stars, but only ALMOST!
Pros: Megan Fox (obviously, and a mandatory movie for any Megan fan), excellent CGI, and funnier than I thought it was going to be.
Cons: Over 2 and 1/2 hours long, whew! Not realistic AT ALL (but what do you expect?), and the dialogue was pretty stiff at times. A lot of the Voight scenes could have easily been scrapped.
Watching Transformers 2 Rise of the Fallen now, will review in full when finished!
