hmmm, I don't think it was in Vegas yet. I actually didn't know they had shows in Vegas, LOL. They were still in Minnesota with Greg Gagne and someone else as commentators. I do remember guys like Hard Rock Paul Diamond and Pat Tanaka aka Bad Company, with Diamond Dallas Page as their manager. and the Destruction Crew, Wayne Bloom and Mike Enos. Baron Von Raske was still on the roster with Scott "Flash" Norton as well. They actually had a wrestling event in Perham, Minnesota, outdoors, at their county fair grounds in which the Baron, Norton, and Destruction Crew were on the card. It basically was a show with those four guys with some unknown guys in the mix as well. Was fun to see them, but the show really suffered with such a small "cast". I also remember the AWA coming to my home town, held in the gym, in which a young Tom Zenc was there and 'Rock 'n Roll' Buck Zumhoff also there. I really enjoyed watching Zumhoff. Very entertaining. I was pretty young then, but loved wrestling of all kinds. I think that's what really got me hooked on wrestling after that show! That's when Pro Wrestling was considered "real" in them days, haha. good times!  |

That was Verne Gagne's AWA late 80s.I went to the same High School as Buck Zumoff.Don Murraco,Bill and Russ Francis went there too.Murraco had the same social studies class as me.
AWA moved to Vegas in the early 90s.

ha, now that's cool. You also aged yourself, as now that mystery is solved!  I always liked the Rock Don Murraco! What a stud! Never got to see much AWA stuff in the 90's obviously. I guess I assumed when it was no longer in Minnesota, they closed the doors!? Did you ever watch any of the WCCW promotion? That was a good one too back in the 80's, ran really competitively with the old NWA back in the day! |

WTIC-
You played the standup Arcade version that you had to put quarters in.I played the NES version got it for $3.00!I made it to Super World Champions!I won 175 matches,but I'm guessing there wasn't a "Winner" Page,because I never found it.Once I figured out you could win by getting The Strong Bads counted out it was simple.
Disaster-The characters didn't really look like those pictures.They were tiny 8-bit graphics guys.Ricky had black hair and black shorts.Ultramachine had a red mask.I always thought Worly looked a lot like an 8-bit Vader.Mascross looked like a masked guy.They made a distinctive "hah" sound when they hit each other.

So Ultra Machine was before Giant Machine with Andre? I ask because the mask does look similar for both. Maybe I am wrong though. Still, entertaining cards! I never heard of the game either, but it sounds fun. And Don WAS a stud! But Dr B was the BIGGER stud! Kelly Monro |

Actually Junji Hirata wrestled as Super Strong Machine in the mid 70s.He is Strong Machine at least that's who he was here in Hawaii in the Pro Wrestling Hawaii days.He was the one with the distinctive mask design that is associated with the Machine name.In the mid 70s there was Big Machine and Super Machine,this was pre WWF versions.They were good They beat Tors Kamata and his partner in a blood drenched match in our local arena.
Ultramachine and the rest of the Tag Team characters were created in 1985 or 1986.No in that picture he's not wearing a Machine Mask.The WWF Machines were from the late 80s or early 90s.Demolition AX,who was one of The Mongols and one of The Bolos was Super Machine,Black Jack Mulligan was Big Machine and obviously Andre was Giant Machine.
BTW,Giant Machine was the inspiration for WCW Master in The NES World Championship Wrestling video game.
I see Don Murraco occasionally.Still pretty big,active in Hawaii wrestling scene.He was already that big in High School!
The Big Time Wrestling Promoter Ed Francis used to live right up the street from me in the 90s.

That's awesome Dr. B! I remember the Machines from the late 80's. They were fun to see, even though I was very young and barely remember most of them haha. I think it's awesome that you still Don Murraco around! I always wondered what he was doing these days. Glad to hear he's just working with the wrestling industry in some form! I keep forgetting what a small world we live in! |

Disaster-Last I heard Murraco was working for HCW a small Hawaii based indy with NWA connections.Their shows were really low budget.They did shows from The State Fair and the parking lots of Housing Projects on the poor side of the island.He also appears at The Wrestling Conventions.
