Death of Nancy Kerrigan's Father Ruled a Homicide Updated: 2 hours 12 minutes ago Print Text Size E-mail More David Knowles David Knowles Writer (Feb. 9) – A medical examiner in Massachusetts has ruled that Daniel Kerrigan, father of American figure skater Nancy Kerrigan, died as a result of a physical confrontation with his son. The Kerrigan family took issue with the report, and released a statement late Tuesday. "We believe this finding to be premature and inaccurate," the statement read. "The Kerrigan family does not blame anyone for the unfortunate death of Dan Kerrigan, who had a pre-existing heart condition." The incident in question occurred on Jan. 24, when police say a fight between 45-year-old Mark Kerrigan and his 70-year-old father at the elder man's home in Stoneham, Mass., resulted in a severe neck injury to the older man. The death of Daniel Kerrigan, father of Olympic figure skater Nancy Kerrigan, was a homicide, prosecutors in Massachusetts said Tuesday. They said the medical examiner determined Kerrigan, 70, suffered "cardiac dysrhythmia" during a physical struggle with his son on Jan. 24. Kerrigan is shown in a 1995 photo with his famous daughter and wife, Brenda. Kerrigan is shown in a 1995 photo with his famous daughter and wife, Brenda. Ron Galella / WireImage Ron Galella / WireImage After responding to a 911 call, police say the son admitted placing his hands around his father's neck during their struggle. According to the New York Daily News, when officers responding to the scene of the fight say that they found the elder Kerrigan passed out in his kitchen, Mark Kerrigan told them "he was faking it." Daniel Kerrigan was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Mark Kerrigan, who had served prison time for prior assault convictions, was arrested and pleaded not guilty to assault and battery on an elderly person. He is being held at Bridgewater State Hospital, where he is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation. At the time of Mark's arrest, Nancy Kerrigan released a statement calling her brother a "wonderful husband" and "a caring and loving father." Brenda Kerrigan, Nancy's mother, claimed that Daniel Kerrigan's death had nothing to do with the fight and was likely caused by a heart attack, the Daily News reported. While the medical examiner concurred that cardiac arrest resulted in the elder Kerrigan's death, the reason Kerrigan suffered a heart attack was directly attributable to the altercation with his son. "The corresponding manner of death has been ruled a homicide," Middlesex County District Attorney Gerry Leone said in a written statement. "As a result of these conclusions of the medical examiner, the investigation into Daniel Kerrigan's death and whether any charges in connection with his death are appropriate, remains ongoing." The autopsy also revealed that Daniel Kerrigan had underlying health problems, including high blood pressure and clogged arteries. Leone has not yet said whether he plans to charge Mark Kerrigan with murder. The fight between father and son started, Mark Kerrigan told investigators, when his father refused to let him use the telephone. Mark Kerrigan had been living in his parents' basement since being released from jail in November on an assault conviction. Nancy Kerrigan won the silver medal for figure skating at the 1994 Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway, and is equally remembered as the assault victim in an attack planned by the ex-husband of her chief American rival, Tonya Harding.

Okay I watched TNA for the 1st time in a long time.I was skeptical when I saw Hulk Hogan and heard the mention of the name Bischoff. But with Scott Hall,Sean Waltman,Tara (formerly Victoria),Mr Andersen (formerly Mr Kennedy),Mick Foley,AJ Styles,Kurt Angle and YES The Natureboy Ric Flair on their roster...how can you not be entertained.
Like I told Crimson on another thread,TNA is a whole different kind of Promotion than The WWE.9 times out of 10 if you follow WWE you don't follow TNA and vice versa.Tell you what I like what McMahon is doing on Raw,but TNA was more like the kind of promotion I'm used to watching. Yes at first I thought oh no Bischoff is gonna run TNA into the ground like he did with The AWA and WCW.I was pleasantly surprised.
I found myself liking Hogan for the 1st time ever.Even though Bischoff still has that pompus attitude at least in this incarnation he's fair!An interesting angle to say the least. My only disappointment was that The Main Event for their PPV is Styles vs Samoa Joe.Okay that storyline is as bad as Randy Orton being in 9 10ths of RAW's Main Events. But to TNA's credit I saw a lot of new talent.
The matches were good!Great atheliticism! It's good to see a good NwO storyline so many years after the fact.I mean WWE destroyed the coolness of the NwO just like tney destroyed the coolness of Goldberg,Meng and The Road Warriors.TNA has managed to reinstill some coolness into The NwO.With Ric Flair on the show. There is a slight hope that he may assemble a new Horsemen Team.
Here's the bottomline TNA is more of what I want in a wrestling show.Lots of action, short promos and lots of surprises. They even got rid of the hexagon ring!Fianally this is my disclaimer:None of you are forced to agree to anything I just wrote.Watch TNA,watch WWE,decide for yourself.

I'd have an HDTV if I could save money, LOL! I also need my old PS3 repaired, which will run about $300!
I would like a new computer monitor also. Got a 17-inch CRT monitor occupying my comp desk, wish I had a larger screen.
And I could always use an X-Box 360!

Sansui,Sylvania,Sharp and Samsung 19" (actually most of them are really 18.5) all on sail at Sears and other stores fro right around $200.
Resolution is to good on HDTV.I never notice how white, white people were on TV before.Miranda Cosgrove is really white!Cartoons and computer generated graphics stuuf looks really coll in High Def.
I watched Raw and ECW in High Def...it does make a difference.
I was using a 17 inch Macintosh G3 monitor. It was pretty high def but this Sansui blows it away!I m,ay be getting addicted to TV though!

Okay so for the 2nd week,I tuned in and watched TNA.For anyone who will tell me they think TNA is not as good as WWE,you can stop reading right now and go somewhere else.
I saw Daphne on TNA,it's been about 10 years since I last saw her. She's not a skinny kid anymore. She's bulked up!She still has that signature annoying scream and she's even more psychotic than before! She destroyed TNA Knockouts Champion Tara!Daphne's character grew,it was not watered down and with all those years of experience,I think may just become a champion soon!
The Monster Abyss who's character became a wimp had his day.He was in a match with Jeff Jarrett who defied Bischoff when he wouldn't hit Abyss with a barbed wire bat. They got beatup by Bischoff's guys (mostly the old ECW guys). But then Hogan ordered Abyss to go to his office.Hogan yells at Abyss, but then Hogan "passes the torch" to Abyss, when he gave Abyss his Hall of Fame ring.He told Abyss that it was the secret of Hulkamania and that Abyss will be 10 times better than Hogan himself!Talk about an interesting storyline. They'd been drivin g Abyss into the ground for two years now, this is his pay off I suppose.
Kazarian returned to TNA!That match alone.(6 man Tag) Show more talent than the whole WWE roster put together! I saw moves I haven't seen in a long time!Fast hard hitting match with lots of excellent wrestling manuvers!
Athletically TNA has better wrestlers. The days of beat em up hit your finisher and go home are done. The workers on TNA have talent.Unlike Hogan they DO know the difference between a hammerlock and a padlock!TNA puts on some great matches.
The Natureboy was stylin' and profilin' with TNA World Champion AJ Styles! They showed that Dinero guy why "You don't ever crank on the Natureboy..."It was like The Horsemen had comeback to life. That's the REAL Ric Flair! He's the guys that we came to respect over the years.AJ Styles fits the profile he is TNA elite!Having held every title they have and then some.(NWA Titles)AJ is the natural choice for "The Next Generation" of The Horsemen or whatever Flair decides to call his stable.
This brings me to make one point before I go on.TNA has NwO B&W,NwO Wolfpack,Horsemen and Bischoff's stable The Old ECW guys. All factions are true to the original character who created them.None of those factions are dominating the show as they have in the past. This to me is good. They'll draw BUT they won't dominate the way The Main Event Mafia did.Everybody is shining on this show, low card to Main Eventers. This is unheard of...
Kurt Angle made a speech about how Anderson (Ken Kennedy) used his medal to cut his head open on Sundays PPV. Great speech very Pro-America.Anderson comes out and makes fun of Angle, then beats him down.It ends with,"Anderson...Anderson"!Except for the name the character hasn't changed and Ken Anderson is allowed to showoff his talent here and he has lots of it!
Samoa Joe gets abducted by Bischoff's men,it was obvious but Tazz and Tenay couldn't tell who it was.(I think it was Tenay...)Anyway another storyline for the fans to get involved with.
The show ends with a faceoff between Nash w/ Eric Young and Hall & Waltman.Just when the fight was getting good Hogan appears.Nothing is rectified, you gitta tune in next week.
BTW starting in March,TNA will be broadcasting on Monday Nights! It's WCW Nitro all over again.Note that Nitro beat Raw 81 weeks in a row!TNA is a better promotion!I think Bischoff,Hogan and Dixie Carter can give WWE a run for it's money!
Here's my disclaimer:If you don't like my oppinion, you don't have to.Watch wrestling programing and make up your own mind.Try not to dismiss one or the other show right off.WWE has really been the best it has in a long time lately. I'm NOT saying WWE is an inferior product I'm just saying that each promotion is different.
BTW a friend of ours said "WCW is dead..."!Well yes it is because McMahon bought it and turned it into RAW.But now the people behind WCW are back in a NEW incarnation.
