Misc Junk of the day...Hilary Duff's father thrown in jail.
HOUSTON (AP) -- A judge in Texas has ordered the father of actress and singer Hilary Duff to spend 10 days in jail for contempt of court.
Bob Duff was led away in handcuffs Wednesday during a court hearing after Judge Thomas Stansbury in Houston determined he violated an injunction against selling assets without court approval.
The Houston Chronicle reported in its online edition that Bob Duff must pay into a court repository $367,537 he earned from selling stocks last month.
Bob Duff's attorney Robert Piro said his client would post bond and file an appeal.
Bob and Susan Duff are in the midst of a bitter divorce.
Stansbury determined Bob Duff should pay Susan $12,500 for Hilary's birthday party, which was the subject of the hearing. Her mother wanted $25,000 to pay for a present and party.
Neither Hilary, whose 21st birthday is Sept. 28, nor her sister Haylie were in court.

Misc Christmas Day Junk:
St. Nicholas aka Santa Claus
Nicholas of Myra (270-346 AD) was born into a patrician family of some wealth, but as a devoted Christian he used what he had to help others (and to intervene on behalf of the falsely accused). The most famous story to come down to us is how Nicholas, hearing of the plight of a father who could not afford dowries for his three daughters, secretly left bags of gold coins at their home to provide a dowry and preserve the ladies from a likely fate as prostitutes. In one version of the story, the father lay in wait the third time the donor was to visit and thus discovered the identity of history's first secret Santa.
But Nicholas was much more than a kindly, anonymous gift-giver. As a bishop in the fourth century, he was also deeply involved in the raging disputes of the day over core issues of church doctrine that we now take for granted, or ought to.
Back then, even three centuries after the death of Jesus, many beliefs remained unsettled. Chief among these was the true nature of Christ, and hence the nature of the Trinity. Was Jesus both God and man? Or was he just a man, a creation of God, albeit a special one? That was the line taken by followers of Arius, known as the Arians. So fierce was the divide over Christ's nature that Constantine, the Roman Emperor who had only recently legalized Christianity and ended the persecution of the church, called all leading bishops together for a council at Nicaea in the year 325 to settle the matter.
The Council of Nicaea, which produced the Nicene Creed that believers still recite as the foundational expression of Christian belief, was hardly the somnolent discussion that one might expect of such angels-on-the-head-of-a-pin topics. Instead, there were nasty arguments and periodic fisticuffs, and at one point Bishop Nicolas of Myra -- who already had a reputation as a staunch defender of orthodox belief against the heresy of the Arians -- popped Arias himself in the face.

So we close the door on 2009.It's 2010...Space Odyssey hasn't happened yet.No monkeys or monoliths around here. This brings to a close a very interesting decade.
It was a decade of accomplishment for me.I found Love but lost it in the end.On a couple of ocassions!I jumped ship on Go Ask Alice to play with Yer Auntie's Panties who were GAA's former guitarists.Ended up meeting Victoria Stringer and doing a Tuesday night gig at The Creekside. That lasted 4 years!
Meanwhile,I also played with a band called Pubic Disturbance.Me & The Drummer wanted to call the Band:Band Jovi,Pig Feetus or The Penetrators. That band had limited success.Artistic differences drove that band apart. So while they were fighting,I helped Shelley Hartling record her Swim CD.Again limited success,Shelley is now a Vice Principal.
In about 2003 or 2004 I met a 6th grader named Tyler and her mother Ellen.Even though Tyler didn't listen to me at 1st she did go on to become my favorite student.along with Kathleen the Bartender and Caitlin the business entrepenuer.I became close with Tyler and her Mom and eventually started doing gigs for Ellen who runs The Na Mele Nei Concert series at Ward Warehouse.
Eventually Albert Maielua,Tony Navacino and I became Ellen's "House Band" and were dubbed The Backyard Gang.Members have included steel players:Ron Kanahele,Derrick Mau,guitarist Dwayne Laanui, bassist Walter Oba and many more.
Meanwhile in the early 2000s I had a kind of big cult following for my hometaper bands:Mindstrohl and Dead Gerbils.I had been working on eclectic and experimental music styles since the early 70s with Neutral Hat Band.By the 2000s it had turned into what I call Sci-Fi meets Lo Fi.I did several 30 minute tapes as Dead Gerbils. But the one that really caught the attention of others was my 1997 releases: Mindstrohl 3 "Mindstrohl Finds The Dementional Gate" and Dead Gerbils' "Dead Gerbils in Outer Space"Into the 2000s those two tapes kept getting constant praise by fellow home tapers and by DJs with home taper shows.Sadly nothing I recorded in the 2000s came close to the kind of popularity I had with those two tapes. But the work I did was proclaimed unique and innovative by many.
Off the subject of music for a second and back onto Love for just a moment.I met a lot of women that I became close to in the last decade.Unfortunately I will probably never see some of them ever again.Quick shout out to Judy,Shelley,Carissa,Mayra. Lynne & Reka,my partner Victoria,Portagee Lynnie,my good friend Linda (even though she doesn't remember I had a huge crush on her when she was 15 or so) and to the numerous women who were "like ships that pass in the night"...I love you all whether you love me back is another story but I do Love you all dearly.
Back to music for a bit.I became "Gun for hire".Because Bass players are hard to find I ended up playing with a number of bands, most noteably:I did a recording with Coconut Joe in 2001.I played at Waimea Park with The Bad Back Gang.Backed several supposed up and coming stars and played with some of my heros as well.
Right now I am playing with The KHARBs aka Go Ask Alice,Reunion Band,Yer Auntie's Panties etc.We just finished playing a New Year's gig at The Kaneohe Yacht Club.4th Year...we're rather proud of that.I also play for Koolau Breeze.Checkout The Koolau Breeze Facebbok page for details.
All this and I haven't even touched on teaching music for Rock Works and all my wonderful students!I just recently started teaching again,I was out for over a year because I had a stroke.I am back now and it great to work wit the kids again.
So on to bigger and better things.I'm working on getting a sort of Country album recorded. That should be available in a few months.
Oh can't leave till I mention that I met an actual TV star!Geri Reischl came down to Ward Warehouse and hung out with me and my Hawaiian Band back in 2007.Geri turned 50 yesterday!Okay Geri you've made it to the top of the heap and now you're sliding down the other side like the rest of us.Hey Geri still looks great at 50!Don't forget to celebrate Fake Jan Day on Jan. 2!Grab a cheeseball and help her celebrate!
Speaking of stars I've been in contact with several.Geri obviously.Geri's TV sibling Susan Olsen who played Cindy or Thindy as she calls herself.I also met Erin Sanders and her Mom Kathy over at Myspace.Erin played Quinn on Zoey 101.I was surprised that Cher read my email, she didn;t reply but she did read my email!I got an email from the guy that played Raj on What's Happening,he's a good friend of Geri.I've gotten several emails from Pamelyn Ferdin. She played Lucy in those Charlie Brown cartoons, she was on almost every show imaginable in the 60s.I thought that was cool.
Before I sign off.... Have a great 2010!
